Yet you post on two different forums?

Anyway I get worked up tracking it but once the storm comes and goes it's whatever to me. I've seen some of the midatlantic and NE guys freak the **** out.

Like I said earlier, 4-6 seems to be reasonable right now. See no reason to think it will be more than that at this time. If something changes for the better then great. Hopefully, not for the worse where we end up with just a few inches at best. That wouldn't surprise me the way these things seem to play out for us. We're getting close now, so I can't see too much of a change at this point though.

Yeah, well....my enthusiasm for not wanting it to snow is probably as intense as your desire to see it snow. So I'm every bit as passionate about weather as you, but I just favor a different outcome. As far as I can tell, I'm the only snow hater who tracks snowstorms obsessively.

Gotta have a life outside of this. It's just a hobby. Those folks in the other forums act like it's life or death. A lot of them get rewarded a lot more than we do with big storms and yet they still panic when one doesn't work out for them.

I just look forward to the day when we get our storm. I know 2010 was only 7 years ago but it feels a lot longer. The build up and excitement from everyone in here will be equally as memorable as the storm itself. It'll happen. We've had the same core group of ppl in here since easternwx days and have been through the let downs together. I'm sure none of us know many ppl, if any, that share our passion with weather. So it's a very unique thing we have here. Someday, hopefully soon, it will all pay off.

 I never understood that. I think I'd be at least indifferent to snow if it didn't directly affect my business negatively. That's what got me into following the weather in the first place. In the beginning I'd just watch TWC or whatever, but now 20 years later here I am with at least some fundamental knowledge of weather patterns, watching models, etc. When I was a kid I thought snowstorms were cool, and to be honest there's a part of me that still does. Having said that, I have never been able to comprehend or even remotely relate to some of the people online who seem to be literally obsessed with them. Usually I track storms by lurking in the Accuwx threads, and simply observing the graphics and reading the comments that people post. I did that today for hours on end, and I'll admit....it's addictive. I usually don't comment in those threads and instead opt to just read them 99% of the time. Most of the conversation is constructive, but man....some of the emotional rhetoric is just cringe worthy. I'm almost 40 years old, and I just can't see how anyone around my age can let not getting a certain amount of snow in a given storm get to them like it does. I've seen flame wars break out and personal meltdowns occur over someone getting 10 inches when the last run showed them getting 18. WTF is the difference?  It's really bizarre. I mean, amateur meteorology is a really cool hobby as far as I'm concerned, but there's a lot more to it than snowstorms. Sometimes it's frustrating when you're just trying to get a better understanding on the dynamics of a certain period, only to read post after post from "weenies" (and they relish being called that, which is sad in it's own right) digging for snow and cold signals.

I'm sticking with 2-5" locally (Greene/Mon).  I don't think there's a lot of support for anything more than that.  I don't trust the spread of NAMs enough without GFS/Euro/UK support.  We'll likely even see a dry slot for a few hours until the coastal takes over, and of course the southern zones may have to deal with mixed precip for a short time.  It also appears fairly certain all the good deform banding will stay to our East.  That's the stuff that gives you the inflated totals, and if we miss it all we'll just have light snow (by definition); even for hours it won't add up much.

If this does evolve in our favor, lets say I like what the NWS has put out there regardless

Didnt change headlines, but bumped the high end of the forecast range up to 8" (it's over 24 hours, so no warning with a 6" average). But, has their products out there showing 12" type potential, and 16" potential in Westmoreland co.

Given everything and all the model madness, that's as fair a look as you can give.
