2017 has been pretty pleasant so far with regards to weather in the eastern Valley. But for a few periods of above normal rain has mostly been held by moderate temps and below normal activity for severe weather. Just enough rain here and there with mostly comfortable summer evenings. Not too humid but not too dry. We've certainly faired better off than other parts of the CONUS.

Had a pretty good downpour in Fountain City last night around 4:30pm. No rain gauge there, but if I had to guess, I'd say around 0.25". Downpour didn't last long. Not a drop at my house where my weather station is. Hope everyone has a great 4th!!

098 NOUS64 KMRX 030621 FTMMRX MESSAGE DATE: AUG 03 2017 06:17:47 KMRX RADAR IS CURRENTLY DOWN. RETURN TO SERVICE IS UNKNOWN AT THIS TIME. TECHNIC IANS WILL ASSESS THE SITUATION THURSDAY MORNING.

Radar station near Morristown has been down since early AM. No word on the issue or expected time to resolve yet. Fortunately it has been pretty quiet. I can get long range out of Jackson or Blacksburg but hopefully they get it back up before storms Friday afternoon/evening.

Friend at the Marshal Space Flight Center in HSV reminded me they have an easy to use GOES-16 viewer. I find navigation easier than other sources. Click on a main satellite view above; then, one can click again to zoom. Or before zooming one can toggle channels.

Apologies if this is old news. Otherwise, enjoy!
