bluewave
Models introduce the potential for snow squalls or showers later today with the passage of the Arctic front. Latest HRRR has a solid line that breaks into segments while crossing the area. All the models have unusually steep lapse rates from the surface to the mid levels with elevated TT's. So it's possible that some parts of the region could experience a brief heavier snowburst reducing visibility with gusty winds around the evening commute. I remember a few times the squall coming in like a white wall in otherwise partly cloudy skies, drop a half inch to inch in 10-15 minutes and end just as fast. You could see the squall then push east and whiten up the ground and hills as it went east. They're terrible for the interstates though, almost guaranteed there will be accidents on I-80. I remember one like that in Long Beach back in the 80's or early 90's. I believe it was in March when a powerful snow squall l came into Long Beach with giant flakes and visibilities under a quarter of a mile. Got dark like a summer thunderstorm and the grass and cars got coated with temps starting in the low 40's and falling into the 30's during the squall. winterwx21
I see 19z HRRR puts down some half inch coatings with some nice snow showers/squalls that move across north-central Jersey later this afternoon. Hopefully it's on the money .... would be nice to see the ground whitened.

You are having the same snow squall that came through my area earlier. This snow squall has caused sections of I-80 and I-81 in PA to be closed on account of multi-vehicle accidents. A section of I-78 near me is at a standstill due to a related accident. You can draw a line between where you are, where I live, and the closed interstates in PA and that shows the path of this snow squall.
