Man...those standing wave clouds look so cool on GOES-16.

84% done with training now...

There are definitely some cool things that can be done with GOES-R though. Eventually we'll be able to create our own difference products. Taking mountain clouds as an example, mountain wave cirrus tends to have smaller ice crystals which are highly reflective. We could then pick two channels that highlight that reflectivity difference, and mountain wave cirrus will show up one color vs. regular cirrus.

Similarly, we can create RGB products that could highlight things like stratospheric ozone intrusions (sniffing ozone) which are great proxies for PV anomalies and potential rapid cyclogenesis.

saw that on the news, said it was a big chunk of ice that came off a box truck. it's funny because they are really enforcing the clear the snow off your car law, but how do they enforce it when the snow/ice comes off the top of a truck. cops can't enforce it because they can't see it until it comes flying off.

nice rain this morning.

this current yellow pixel I'm under is actually big high velocity aggregates.

Snow is only  750 feet away from you.  Look straight up!  Snowing at 1100 feet but I can look down below and vis is much better.  Not sticking at 34.1F at the moment as precip is quite light
