It would make sense for eastern LI to be colder in that case if the air was draining down from there.
UlsterCountySnowZ
Man the HRRR is all over the place... huge run to run swings... just look at the comparison same time frame to the RGEM...hrrr drags the surface low straight through western NY, almost over HV lol and then into CT... not happening
UlsterCountySnowZ
Idk why the rap is even a model anymore... rap is like 2-3" all the up past Albany, precip starved... warm... and fast moving... literally against all other guidance.. I mean if your a short term model, you should probably be atleast borderline "ok" at short term forecasting lol
NorthShoreWx
LI is colder than UlsterCountySnowZ at the moment due to the cheap parlor trick known as radiational cooling. However, this chart is actually good despite the recent spike at the surface (because of the wind picking up a little and mixing better). That temp at ~280 feet above the ground is more relevant and it's getting very close to freezing:
UlsterCountySnowZ
Man euros not letting down...7" snow line drops into north rockland now (some is sleet) but it's a colder run
UlsterCountySnowZ
If Albany is right with ratios going from 12-15:1 then 10:1... places north of Newburgh NY could see 8-12" on euro
