bowtie`
Not much in the way of clouds for tonight's sunset. Just this to the south east... I did stick around for all the color though. Glad I did. Was able to get a fairly young moon with the 100mm. The moon was only 40 or so hours old and just 2% of the disk illuminated... bowtie`
At the pond this evening. Pre-sunset... Local sunset... Post sunset...
bowtie`
After a day off from the pond, I was back at it this evening. Local sunset... About as busy as I could make it... Most expansive, @20mm... Last dregs...
bowtie`
Hit three of the four lens this evening. Started pre-sunset with the 100mm... The next two images were with the 24-70mm. Starting to go orange down low while still sort of white up high... The red flash was much more a pink flash this evening. The 24-70 gets leaning towards pink most of the time anyway. So it kind of goes overboard with it... Last image of the night was with the 16-35mm. I like the tinge of green on the upper edges. Especially on the left side. A cloud shadow helped bring out the green tinge...
bowtie`
A perfect night out at the pond. No geese, no ducks, minimal wind, no fishermen and gals, the perfect mixture of clouds, great downstream conditions for late color. The only fly in the ointment was the fish in the pond. They were hitting everything on the surface and even jumping up in the air and splashing everywhere. Oh well. It has to be something! Stared out with a rather vivid sun-dog... These low clouds would materialize out of nowhere and disappear just the same. You had to be on your toes with them... Here is some orange... Here comes the red from the east... The effect of the added red from the high clouds...
bowtie`
Rapidly changing conditions this evening. When I got to the pond... A nice cloud shadow here... Local sunset. I like the red on the horizon but the clouds at the top still being bright yellow... A quick turn around and a couple steps up to the top of the berm for the color to the east... And a horizontal shot of the same to end the evening...
bowtie`
I'll try to be brief this evening. Pre-sunset... Post sunset...
bowtie`
Tonight was basically about crepuscular rays. Hopefully you can still see the crepuscular rays in this one. I like this one because of the lensflare/starburst in combo with the rays... Just some broad faint rays on the right side edge here... Last image has zero rays in it. Just the last dregs of color for the evening...
bowtie`
Nothing too terribly special about the sunset this evening. Local sunset Post sunset color
bowtie`
When I left work this evening I thought there would be no photos this evening. Solid overcast. So I went home and mowed the yard instead. As I was mowing, a clearing opened up overhead. Once I finished, I headed out to the pond just in case. Glad I did. When I got out there... Close to local sunset. Nice of the cloud deck to dim down the Sun for me. Worked almost perfect... Post sunset color was very interesting... bowtie`
After another day of solid overcast all day, the bringing of sunset broke the clouds up. What it looked like when I got out to the pond... The beginning of the post sunset color... Last dregs of color in the sky...

bowtie`
Spent the past week in central New York on vacation. Caught two sunsets while out there. This was the evening of the 9th... And this was the evening of the 10th...
bowtie`
Back home again in Indiana, for this evening's sunset. And back at the pond for the pre-sunset... It actually looked a lot better post sunset...
bowtie`
One of *those* nights at the pond again. Color galore. Pre sunset color... Local sunset @ 16mm... Local sunset @ 27mm... The start of the orange... The orange with a rather large over the horizon cloud shadow... The end of the orange and the beginning of the red... Ending the evening with full on gak red. Kind of slid towards pink...
bowtie`
Tonight was all about crepuscular rays. When I got to the pond, just as soon as I exited the car. Just threw the cam up and fired off a shot... Once I got down to the pond and got all set up for a reflection shot... Close Encounters of the Third Kind crepuscular rays... Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon rays...
bowtie`
Another productive evening out at the pond. The sky when I got there... As close as I could get to the local sunset and still have a nice lens flare... The orange and red racing in from the east... Max red... Way past any decent color but I like the design and subtle colors...
bowtie`
Interesting evolution to the post sunset sky here this evening. The yellow start... Starting to open up and get a little blue in it... A touch of a green tint... To end the evening, the billboards have lit up and the best of the red way on the western horizon... bowtie`
Two days of clouds in this post. From yesterday looking south east... From today looking north...
bowtie`
About as close to actual sunset I can get at this location. Right there in that notch. The bad news is that the Sun is now setting on the south side of the billboards again. Kind of depressing till next year when it crosses back over heading north. This was taken with the 24-70mm @ 45mm. The post sunset shot has some broad and diffuse cloud shadows going on. I hope you can see them in this reduced format... This was taken with the 16-35mm @26mm.

bowtie`
The Sun peaked out underneath the cloud deck this evening. Made for a colorful sunset. Vertically... and Horizontally...
bowtie`
Another colorful post sunset this evening. Although, where yesterday all the colors happened at the same time, tonight it was much more linear and consecutive. The yellow flash... The orange flash... The red flash... bowtie`
This evening was a smoke induced post sunset. Was cool to come home and see on the vis. satellite the smoke in central Illinois just before the light left. With some clouds shadows in addition to the smoke... A bit later with the smoke being deeper and more definitive... This is way past time I should have been back home and downloading the days pics, But sometime you have to test the boundaries of what is good, to fine the edge... bowtie`
Another great evening at the pond. Close to local sunset and a view of the conditions for what was to come... Once the color got crankin'... These last two images were taken within 20 seconds of each other. Both were at 1/5 a sec. exposure with an aperature of 11. The only difference between the two images was the way I feathered (moved) the Graduated Neutral Density filter in front of the lens. Show just how easy it is to confuse the white balance of a camera...
bowtie`
Another colorful post sunset here this evening. The orange... The red... And as the color rounds the corner and heads to all points west...
