rochesterdave
I think the storm moisture will pull away before we can accumulate much. But I'm happily surprised to see this burst. If the pinwheels of moisture and dynamics can keep pushing west and marry with that band coming off Georgian Bay, anything is possible. I gotta think there is a reason that Buf NWS kept the advisory in place over Monroe and the Warning over Wayne- just in case, cause lord knows their original intent fell flat. What is the highest total so far in Wayne? 2"? LOL

rochesterdave
Tim, take a look at how the Radar return are actually filling in from NE-SW, this is the pinwheel effect of the big storm. Its an interesting feature. We have to watch the western cutoff, as soon as we lose this, I think we lose the enhancement. Its amazing we are even getting enhancement as im sitting at 30F. Fun stuff. CNY-WXFREAK
What a storm! I haven't seen these rates since November, lol, but all kidding aside, tomorrow mornings commute, if there is one, is going to be absolutely treacherous. The Dendrites are simply amazing as there are half dollar size mixed in with quarter sized and pretty much every size and shape there is. The other fascinating about this storm is that its still 31f and the snow is of the wet variety cause the lake enhancement, yes has kicked in, but not at its full potential because of the temps and when they hit -13 to -15 which should be around 5. Once the temps meet the criteria which is about -11C right now then we will have sufficient lake enhancement and I can only imagine if we had it now. Theres still plenty of moisture around for the lake to generate snow so...... goin to bed.........

CNY_WX
3.9 inches overnight which brings me to 9.0 for the storm. Still light snow falling, I'm not sure if I can get another inch to bring me to my over/under of 10 inches.
CNY-WXFREAK
I'm at 11.4 for the event and it's still snowing light to at times moderate. KBGM'S precip map I posted last night was on the money at 6-8" which is approx what fell including yesterday's front end. All in all a nice event. If we didn't taint, KBGM would of been perfect with their prediction of 12-18". Good job to them this time!Sent from my SM-G920V using Tapatalk
Syrmax
Additional 5.8" overnight (0.43 LE)...13.4:1 ratio for Part II. Total storm accum 10.1" (0.96 LE). Ratio for Part I was only 8.1:1.... Very nice overnight dump...kudos to KBGM for my location, they had 6" overnight 4casted and hit that on the nose. Glad i cleared the driveway after Part I. Easier getting rid of 6 than 10", plus drifting...
BGM Blizzard
Ended up getting another 2.5 of powder overnight. Closing in on 7.0 for storm total. BGM has been sending out SPS all morning for this band moving east through the Finger Lakes and Central S Tier. About to get in on this shortly with probably >1" rates, but not sure for how long... CNY_WX
Just came in from snowblowing my driveway. I measured over 10 inches where it hadn't been touched since the snow began but there may have been some drifting so I will stick with 9.0 for the storm. BGM Blizzard
Near white out conditions right now with the wind. Nice fluffy dendrites. Definitely 1-2"/hr in the cores but unfortunately the band is a bit ragged so the rates have been fluctuating.

Syrmax
Not a bad storm, generally 6-12" for much of upstate NY (with notable exception of the Buffalo & No. Towns snow hole) and fairly well modeled. Thinking I am in low 80s for snow now, so 100 still in sight. That would still be 25% below avg IMBY but it's sort of my threshold for whether or not it's a lousy snow season or not. Seems like when we miss, we miss big though. snow shower has moved back in...big flake size but rate not all that impressive for the most part (this is not the snow cap of So. New England after all) but enough to accumulate...maybe we pick up a bonus inch or so by the time this fully winds down later this eve.
