Ratios should be much higher during the second half of the storm. Yeah I'm guessing it's the taint that mixed in. I mean, maybe I could have measured 4.5" but still the ratio would be low. CNY-WXFREAK
Back to -SN here in Lpool and I was looking at the surface tempd and winds and I n oticed winds in KROC out of the West and at KSYR from the East with 0 precip in between. Obviously its a wind shift demarcation and I'd imagine once that passes us by we'll start to see the second part of this event begin in earnest. CNY-WXFREAK
i do not like the looks of this and I hope when the secondary gets going, it fills in with moisture, as no guidance showed this kind of drying at H700 this early in the event but I'm pretty confident it'll fill in once it starts deepening as well as once it transfers, it should start to throw moisture back our way but being this far West, but at this point, who knows. This is the one that is straight ugly even for ENY! This one, however, looks great to me as there is quite a bit of energy that's going to be coming together somewhere off the EC. Climatology would argue somewhere South of Long Island, as that's pretty much where most guidance had it I believe, unless I'm wrong as I didn't track this one. Funny because the ones I do track wind up being cutters and the ones I don't track, end up decent events, so maybe I should stop tracking events altogether, lol! CNY-WXFREAK
frzn/drz mixed with -sn currently falling with a temp of 28f. Lets hope once the second stage begins, its a continuous mod-sometimes heavy sn throughout the night, as that would be awesome, instead of pieces of energy moving through and with each, a batch of sn/showers but if that is what happens, then we'll be hard pressed to hit our precip target of 9". Tues-Wed event is shaping up to be almost a non-event here. It looks like as the Southern Stream doesn't get involved this time around. Well at least guidance isn't showing anything as of yet but that can easily change as there is plenty of energy to tap so we'll wait and see. As of now its a 2-3" event but if the Southern Stream energy gets involved it can be an entirely different beast! Let me not get ahead of myself as we still have this event that hasn't even gotten going yet.
CNY-WXFREAK
Pressure falls are way out in the ATL South of the Benchmark?? Anyway, there could be some serious winds tonight along the South Shore into the Eastern LO region with Height rises as wind advisories have been posted for here. Up by the Lake Shore, I don't know what KBUF is figuring but are there adv's or warnings up? Wow, no mention from KBUF regarding high winds along the lake shore is interesting as perhaps they don't see much.

Syrmax
We had a covering of SN on the driveway since I cleared it an hour ago (sorry Ty) and now some FZDZ as precip has lightened up....temp is 30.1. CNY_WX
I measured 1.8 inches for the 6 hour period from 1-7 when I cleared the board. Added to the previous 6 hour measurement of 3.3 gives me 5.1 so far for the storm. ZR was falling when I was measuring, should go back to SN when the precipitation picks up in intensity.
