I'm a good bit north of you by about 15 miles or so, so I may be on the cusp. I wish you luck down there in Union County, I hope you all get a last minute surprise.

You definitely have a better chance than me.  Line was up near Mt Island Lake so it's close but it hasn't made much progress.  Hopefully you can get some good accum over night!

Moderate snow in SoDu near Southpoint. My visibility is poor, but nearby roofs, ground and parking lot are getting coated. Seems like big flakes. I am towards the bottom of the dark orange area of south Durham on the CC.

What size of flakes are you dealing with? I've had small mostly for about two hours.

They are not large and puffy flakes, but there are many of them.  Just took a couple of pics after walking around the neighborhood.  Check out these urls to see the conditions here in NE Hickory, NC:

Wanted to share some cool observations before heading to bed.

Drove from Raleigh/Cary west to Pittsboro, NC on hwy 64 then up hwy 87 to Burlington, NC from around 4-630pm (errands in b/t)

RDU -> Pittsboro : precip picked up slightly, all rain 4degree temp drop from 41-37 (4-430pm)

left Pittsboro @ 5pm and 36 degrees. light rain

Alamance/Chatham line: first flakes visible

Saxapahaw @ 530: moderate to heavy sleet 34degrees

Graham @ 6:10 light sleet/graupel 32degrees

I-40 @ hwy 49 around 615pm switch to all snow.

by the time I reached home (Burlington/Elon) lull in precip.

It was very fun/interesting to drive through the transitions like that, they were noticeably abrupt

Precip started back at 9:15pm, all snow since then

we're avg. about 1"/hr. no mixing.

I had a sense early on this thing would keep backing up NW and felt good about alamance co.

So far proving to be true. Fingers crossed for all my RDU and CLT friends.

The first call from a met was webber, he had us (Randolph Counyy)6 to 12 yesterday. Allan another great met had Randolph County all 8 to 12 today his last call. I posted 8 to 14 for our county today. Thought someone in ne part of county might have a shot at a micro lollipop of 13.

If we get that 1 inch+ qpf mission will be accomplished. Hearing thunder reports back in Georgia is very encouraging. Just ne of where WeatherNC set up camp tonight toward tidewater might hit a 16, we'll see. Anyway you slice it this is a big reward after tracking this pup for 10+days.

Imagine if that gfs run several days ago of 24 was in the cards. One day I'd love to expierencing a 20+ inch snowfall.

Hmmm, if those "most likely" totals were too conservative, I wonder what the NWS is thinking the new totals will be...

Would be incredible to see  a 2-foot snowfall!

Cool. Just about the same here. But have some yellow running into me from the SE. Lets see what happens.

CC line retreating back into Durham County

Yeah, it's on the move, Asheboro to just east of Chapel Hill, that is likely going to translate to the NE over the next couple hours, kind of like a string oscillating.  Moderate snow, looking out the window, cars on 95 are really starting to slow down as it is now sticking to the road.  Still about 6 miles north of that transition.  If Roxboro jackpots in NC I have to hand it to the GFS on a 5 day lead, granted it was pretty far off on actual amounts but that 33" max from the 1/2 12z run was right around there.
