I will never, ever go against the NW trend. 9 times out of 10 it will happen.

Ain't that the truth. Looking back, the Para GFS had this thing down way into South FL at one point!

Area Forecast Discussion
National Weather Service Morristown TN
911 PM EST Fri Jan 6 2017

.DISCUSSION...
Tweaked temperatures and dewpoints a bit to account for current
trends. Also adjusted snowfall onset times a bit based on current
radar, observations, and short term model progs. Seeing increased
forcing and continued good moisture flow over southeastern TN and
southwestern NC and increased snowfall forecasts accordingly. Could
easily see 1"/hour rates in this area through early Saturday, with
upslope-enhanced snowfall rates potentially reaching 2"/hour in
the higher elevations of the Smokys. Expanded Winter Storm Warning
another tier of counties west to include Meigs and Hamilton
counties -- there will be a sharp snowfall gradient somewhere in
this general vicinity, but the impacts of even 2 inches of snow
with subfreezing temperatures continuing throughout the day
Saturday will be significant. Also expanded the wind chill advisory
another tier of counties east across the remainder of the
Cumberland Plateau for Saturday.

Wow...my new forecast from MRX:

Quote
Tonight
Snow. Low around 16. North wind 10 to 15 mph, with gusts as high as 20 mph. Chance of precipitation is 90%. Total nighttime snow accumulation of 3 to 7 inches possible.
Saturday
A 40 percent chance of snow before 10am. Cloudy through mid morning, then gradual clearing, with a high near 22. Wind chill values between 5 and 12. Northwest wind 5 to 10 mph.
Saturday Night
Mostly clear, with a low around 1. West wind around 5 mph becoming calm in the evening.
Sunday
Sunny, with a high near 28. Wind chill values between -4 and 6. South wind around 5 mph becoming calm.

Low around 1.  I'm sure that's due to the snowpack.

Todd Howell with WBIR in Knoxville said the snow is going to continue to back-build in East TN, ending around 5 or 6 in the morning.

I trust Howell, also that matches modeling that I saw earlier.  I'll take it, should be enough to make a snow packed RC truck track in the backyard tomorrow!

Howell is sticking to his guns. 2-5" in and around Knoxville. We need this to wrap up or it isn't happening.
