Lookout
Picked up some good rain today...with a total of 2.15. An inch of that fell in the last 30 minutes or so at the end...heavy enough that the pasture was flooded and it looked like it had rained twice that. Desperately needed though. Interesting that right toward the end and after the rain had stopped, winds suddenly went from calm/less than 5 mph out of the east to north/northeast with gusts in the 25 to 30mph range. Looks like everyone saw this increase in winds...including atlanta/gainesville, athens, etc. gainesville even had a gust to 37mph. Winds are now back to less than 5mph/calm. Hopefully will pick up at least another inch with the next round. hrrr is encouraging.

Winds went from nothing to strong enough to blow down a tree into the road next to are driveway in a matter of minutes. Lasted about 30 minutes or so. BillT
the water vapor loop looks amazing right now, an almost straight line from texarkana to atlanta with the hinge point near the miss/al border and the line of storms at an almost 90 degree angle reaching south from atlanta. http://www.daculaweather.com/4_nh_wv_loop.php
Iceagewhereartthou
Well an amazing weather period for sure, just not the way most of us would like. The last 10 days at GSP have averaged 16.8 degrees above average! The lowest temp during that time has been 42 degrees. For the month we are now + 6.6, and that includes 3 days that were -15, -17, and -15. If not for those, we would be working on a record Jan. I've seen warm days in jan many times, but NEVER a stretch like this. This is feeling a lot like Dec 15, excepting the snow days of course.
