Cold Rain
Encouraging that we're finally starting to get some consistency now and see more 200 hr stuff as opposed to mainly 300 hr stuff. Impressive cold depicted on the map above.

Wow
I certainly feel good about the cold air. Models agree on this pos tilted trough ushering in the arctic high (+ tilted frontal systems typically have stronger HP's associated with them) that's going to blanket the entire US with BN temps. One was at hr 276 and one at 288. The storm is still ongoing then thus the difference in amounts

Had a 1040 hp pressing down. So there are ways to get good snows with big artic plunges. That was a powdery snow that covered alot of SE territory. Toot Toot. 29 years latter to the exact date. I'll take a powder snow storm. Hardly ever get one of those down here.

It doesn't even have to be that deep. In 2013-2014 here in Wilson we had a few inches on the ground and it it got down to 3.9 F according to my weather station one morning. We are in the NC coastal plain so those temps are very rare.
