Actually gfs  is snow to zr  to zr  followed by more zr  then snow.  Maybe.. I say maybe due to the fact gfs showing the 850 low in the Piedmont.  Mountains look ripe for a good snow.  But 850 low goes from Piedmont of NC to west of DC.  Mix issues and and dry slot issues will probably occur

Sure, details....details.  But one thing is certain.  Somebody from OH to SC to the MA is gonna get crushed in the next 7-8 days and the models are all over the trailing cold.  Frozen precip or not, nobody wants to be without power thru New Years weekend.  Brrrr!!

So lets see what the king has in store.

Usually a stronger system or systems in the upper levels will cause more ridging ahead of.   But I do agree that map is over done.  Gfs trying to figure the strength and location of the of the pieces
