Because people always talked about how bad it was in large amounts. But I figured they were just exaggerating, and just one time I wanted to see if they were right. And then this happened. I lived in Thomasville at the time. Out of power for 8 days. *To this day, this is the ONLY winter weather storm that I would prefer not to have experienced in retrospect. KyleEverett
The forecast from GSP for south of the NC/SC state line just gets more depressing. Charlotte getting 7 inches of snow, and Rock Hill getting 2 inches and ice.

Amos83
Time to start radar watching. Going to be a long 3 days of staying glued to what is happening out west then eventually closely watch for returns to develt and redevelop Sunday and Monday. Good luck everyone!! DopplerWx
man if somehow the fv3 scored a coup on this it may rival the euro in terms of legendary status for the next few years. i hate that i am holding out hope that the snow line verifies and sets up just to the south of clt. ughhhhh. and with wsp mentioning the possibility of waa not being as big of a factor as in previous storms. Touchet
Is it me or are these maps people are posting in the main thread misleading? From what I see on the models, the only area that will see an all snow event is the nw mountains and northern part of NC. Seems that most will see rain or a mix for the duration that changes to all snow at the end.

Dunkman
RAH with 8-12 for GSO and 1-2 for Raleigh...I guess that's about right for the last few years. You may have a much better city but at least we get the snow!

weatherheels
Can I just get a foot, please. Every year I ask Santa for the same thing, just a foot of snow. Dude has never come through before. Maybe this is the one? I smell a 6" snow topped off with some sleet and ZR. Hope I'm wrong, which is usually the case.
superjames1992
The NAM looked pretty mixy to me. 850-700 mb thicknesses looked problematic outside the mountains. Maybe I didn't look close enough.
