This board has a ton of doomNgloomers, especially in this area, but this is a new low. Even for RDU.

It might be me...I started this hobby about 13 years ago and we've been in this drought it seems like the entire time (with the exception of 2010)... Solak
What are the chances of the event being over before the snow hole fills in?
DopplerWx
Radar is so typical for a rdu snow, shouldn't even be that surprised.

Loop the radar, you can see the band to our southwest dying out. 50/50 we get blanked completely. Probably a dusting though is my guess. Maybe 70/30 for a blank. Moonhowl
I grew up in Raleigh; used to snow back then. Man, that snow hole is a sight to behold; my condolences to all the snow lovers in the Triangle area.

goldman75
My local met here in Myrtle beach, ed piatrowski, is very conservative. At 2pm today he released his map and said 3-5 inches of snow. All we got is a handful of sleet pellets. What a bust so far. Maybe we can squeak out an inch if it changes over eventually
packbacker
This is way more impressive then getting 1-2" of snow. None of us in Raleigh would remember a 1-2" event but we will remember the snow hole. That band to our west will eventually snow itself out and may bring us some flurries, but doubtful.

This is crazy...Every time I think its filling in, it comes back in the next frame. You're right, we'll definitely remember this.

Ours is caused by mtn downslopping, what causes it for you guys?

packbacker
Just now, rduwx said: pack!.... Just kidding pack! LOL...I know, I think it's me too. I honestly don't think it will ever snow here again, not saying it needs to be 10"+ event, but a 3-5" even between 85 and 95. That seems like the impossible.

Moonhowl
For you Pack fans; maybe the snow hole is a sign the Pack will be able to put the ball in the hole tonight and beat Notre Dame or maybe there is the same chance of that happening as snow in Raleigh; IDK. GO PACK!

Now, if he could only find the sweet spot... Seriously, this must be so painful that you can't help but try to find the humor in it. I was very confident that pack, CR, and the gang would get a decent snow out of this. It seems my confidence was misplaced, and you guys were right all along. I really am sorry that you're missing out on this one, as of yet. I still think it will eventually fill in and you'll each get an inch or more, but this waiting must seriously suck. There's no other way around it.
FallsLake
Terrible for my location. That band has dissipated coming out of Durham and I think northern Wake may get the shaft on this. Will probably get some accumulations but not very much. I guess I shouldn't be complaining, but it's going to hurt see the snow map with higher numbers to my west and east. Oh well done venting... Jonathan
Why I'm pissed FOR anyone on this board inside this circle. Hopefully most are seeing snow on either side of Raleigh. This is insane.
uncjibble
Ok it’s 9pm and no snow in Garner, I’m out. I usually try to keep a positive attitude but it’s so frustrating when it’s snowing literally in a 10-20 mile circle all around you. Especially after missing the last 2 events by 15-25 miles as well.
