CoalCityWxMan
28 degrees, moderate freezing rain with a really good deal of thunder and lightning right now. Lots of nice CTG strikes. Can't say I've seen this in quite awhile.
CoalCityWxMan
This is going to be a horrible mess. Very Heavy precipitation here, things are going to get bad quick out there
csnavywx
At 28 degrees, yep. That's going to accrete quite fast. Looks like you've got a couple hours of it.
LansingWeather
I hope that precip makes it to my house...We finally dropped below freezing. 30.4 and dropping.
csnavywx
Certainly looks like it. Might be sleet by the time it gets there. Cold air has a few more hours to deepen.
LansingWeather
This was a sweet air mass. We had thunderstorms earlier (even dime sized hail a few miles away) with a high of 46 and now its sub freezing with mixed precip incoming. I really enjoy volatility. CoalCityWxMan
worth nothing the HRRR shows up to a half inch of ice accumulations this morning in parts of IL/IN. Doubt that'll pan out but still, pretty impressive. Some areas could certainly see more than a tenth of an inch.

nwohweather
Feels like a very March pattern out there. Looks like our second straight week where we see precip with 40°+ degree weather
Trent
Around 4am this morning CLE tied a record high for the day at 65 degrees! For comparison at 4am it was 59 degrees in Tampa, 61 in Fort Myers, and 62 in Orlando.

Baum
Heavy Sleet. Most likely the best part of my January 2017 winter weather.
Chambana
Seriously next week the torch is on. At this point does anybody want winter to continue with this pattern? If February is a carbon copy let's just be done with this mess and get a nice early spring.
zinski1990
warms up and rains, gets cold does nothing. Seems to be the way its gone so far this winter especially in central ill and central Indiana where Im at. Oh well, still time with late Jan and Feb for things to turnaround. The PNA may go positive by then so Im still keeping hope. Just sucks so far.
ryanZHP
Thunder and heavy rain when I was leaving this morning. So weird. Roads weren't noticeably icy, but lots of standing water. The car had a little coating of ice by the time I got to work, though. Seems like it could get dicey if the temp drops a few degrees.

cyclone77
Picked up 0.06" of rain yesterday. Up to 0.21" for the month.
DAFF
I'm a bit worried about the temperature profiles today.... Temps are running much colder than forecasted and sitting at 32°f right now. How do these numbers relate to father west with the onset of precip.
Chicago Storm
Had a bit of -FZRA, IP and -SN here this morning.
DAFF
Pouring rain... thunder on the onset, down to 31 now. Good thing the rain has a high intensity rate. Things could get ugly here.
osubrett2
Jekyll and Hyde weather so far this month for CMH. Of the 11 recorded days, we have 8 days with +/- 10 departure from average. Days of +17, +20, +14, and +18 and days of -10, -18, -19, and -15. Today will likely be a +20 day as the high is already +27 and the low at 1159pm should be +15. Stebo
We lucked out in my neighborhood, the ice didn't accrete until the very end of the precipitation, so things are just wet outside of the trees having a bit of ice on them.

Powerball
14 hours ago, weatherbo said: Interesting comparisons considering how awful last Winter was for most. On paper, it's been a decent winter for the Chicago - Detroit corridor (I think still at/above average to-date). The problem, aside from the 2 weeks in December, is the lack of snowcover and roller coaster temps. We also haven't seen any *major* snowstorms since then either.
