michsnowfreak
Had an awesome whiteout squall as the cold front passed this evening. Dropped 0.6" of powder in a very short amount of time. It was a rime-like powder, not typical lake effect fluff, and came complete with drifting. Ive now had 21.1" on the season and nearly 7" of that is LES, most unusual. ConvectiveIA
Today NWS has clarified a couple of opportunities for small-scale last-minute snow chances here tonight. Another meager chance mid-week next week. "Creepers" aren't as common as they were 10+ years ago with stronger models in use, but they provide the hope for drier, cold patterns such as this one. The GFS brings 60 degree temps and upper 50's dews up to the IN/MI border.

Jonger
Picked up around 5 inches last night. Let me work some gas through the blower. Pointless since it's going to melt though. I call this a mini east coast storm. Snow falls and melts in 48 hours.
Hoosier
LOT put this out earlier. Some model differences on temperature progression and how much precip will be around when temps drop below freezing, but it doesn't take much to cause travel issues of course. weatherbo
I wouldn't mind living out west in elevation. I'm not complaining tho. Warmth lasted a day and came with a load of snow... a few more inches today. Cleared off the deck last Friday. measured 19" out there this morning so more than 2' has fallen. Looks like a stretch of quiet weather coming, however.

They just updated the WWA and said '1-2 more inches of snow today'... I'll have 1-2 more inches in the next hour... They're a little conservative sometimes, but overall a grest office. Not letting up here.
Hoosier
NAM develops some decent MUCAPE (for this time of year) into the southern Lakes later. Will have trouble realizing sfc based CAPE but still may not be out of the question to get strong/isolated severe storms.

Hoosier
Models have secondary surge of moisture in IL/IN tomorrow morning. Northwest fringe of that area should be below freezing by then and if true, LOT may need freezing rain advisory farther south.

One Indpls TV met has mentioned this possibility for tonight as the front sags southeast, but SPC has not hoisted a marginal risk like they did yesterday which gave me my first t storm of the year (also svr warned) which resulted in the most extensive tree damage I've had in my yard since moving here in 2014. In January no less. Will have to see what happens tonight.

NAM has ticked up a bit with the 18z run, shows over 500 j/KG this evening even as far north as here by 03z. I think it is good bet we will be seeing thunderstorms this evening. 4km actually has pockets near 1000 j/KG, more than likely overdone but if not there will be a decent hail potential with anything that develops.
