Once we stop feeling the influence of that weak surface wave off the coast winds should veer around to the SW and temps will rise rapidly. Those weak waves are always a challenge in forecasting.....they can actually have a fairly significant impact on real weather. Looking at the LR stuff, the 2 or 3 systems that come thru in the next 10 days or so all have something sort of surface reflection off the coast (GFS). Who knows if it will be right.....could be a trend this season tho.

Bet you never would have guessed Ewing would beat Qtown in this setup eh Ray?

Can't say I was paying that much attention, though yes, it was interesting that somehow Monmouth beat Mercer again (which is a caveat to Q-town losing to Ewing).

Just got home from a recital in Glenside and the roads/sidewalks there were wet and slushy, but most of the trees and shrubs were still encased in a  thin coating of ice... even this late in the day with the car showing temp right at freezing. Temps IMBY have been holding ~33.4F all afternoon.  Currently mostly cloudy and 33.4F.

Temp up to 32.8 but very icy out there....no doubt with MPO an Hazleton in the 40's the inversion is not too much above here....should see big time temp increases over next several hours....before we start back down again tomorrow PM....certainly been a very interesting winter weather month this December...although expect those that only measure winter weather in snow to differ on my assessment.

Temp had risen a bit last evening to the 34F range by 8 pm, then edged up to about 35F overnight until after 3 am when it started torching dramatically with some on and off rain.  The ground was still cold and the slushy coating on the grass only literally melted within the past hour.

Currently up to 51F, with some breezy WSW winds and drizzle.   Still some slushy shoveled piles around that will become glaciers if the warmth and incoming rain don't take them out.
