Not too bad by December 2011-2016 standards. The only other December with 3" or more was 2013.

They need to get rid of the North Bellmore and Franklin Square totals.  The Franklin square one was taken 90 mins before the changeover.

KNYC finished with 2.8" not sure about the others. I finished with 3.3"

That 2.8 is low for sure as usual.  I think it was closer to 3.6 or so.  They probably did not measure til 9am and it changed over here about 835 or so, that 25 minutes of rain is enough to compact.

2 inches here of snow and sleet

the nam did a great job with this storm. Hopefully people stop taking tidbits snow maps as gospel

Same here. A little disappointing since so many places across the tri-state were in the 3 to 4 inch range, but it wasn't surprising. Late last night the HRRR did a good job showing that Long Island would get more snow than our area.

May not have been that bad a measurement since Lincoln Center came in a little lower at 8:30 at the changeover.

CENTRAL PARK 2.8 900 AM 12/17 PARK CONSERVANCY
 LINCOLN CENTER 2.4 830 AM 12/17 COCORAHS

It was to wet over night and the nam did well with forecasting that warm push in the upper levels.

Yep and even the HRRR cut snowfall back in our area last night. The two hours of pixie dust killed the thump for us. The costal front help enhance snowfall overnight on the LI
