Some very long icicles hanging off the grill and deck. Etc. still mixing with sleet at times. 29F.

Moderate fzr here and 27F.  Just ticked up a degree with an increase in precip.  Stepped outside to do a quick asphalt test, got two steps out the side garage door and rethought that idea.  It's treacherous out there and the ice is building quickly...  No sleet here at all - just fzr.

Just looked at WTOP's traffic map and counted 10 separate accidents where all lanes are blocked.

0.3" snow/ sleet accumulation with FZRA mixing in now.  27 degrees.  0.25" liquid through 7:00 a.m.  So much for all those model runs showing a QPF minima in this area.

Models nailed the lack of precip south of the Potomac. Very happy about that. Ice has no benefit, unless it covers and locks in a snowpack.

state and county police should shut down all interstate roads till icing eases, no matter how long it takes, as a public saftey issue. and use emergency broadxast services to keep public informed plus normal broadcasting methods

Walked outside to get the paper.  Heavy icing on my truck, but the driveway/sidewalk is just wet and the road was slushy but not bad.  Which is strange since it's been below freezing for 36 hours+

Measured 0.06" of ice accretion (using the branch method) at 07:30 for my spotter report in Kingstowne/SSW Franconia.  

Very light freezing drizzle now, but very slick.  While I was out with the dog, I saw one person wipe out on her steps, thinking it was just wet.

Interesting to note that per the GFS from yesterday I was supposed to be getting above freezing by 12z(8am)
