osubrett2
Haven't stepped outside yet, but ice is everywhere. CMH measured .12" of ice around 1am, so I'm sure that total is between .15"-.20" by now. Roads are a mess as was the case in Indy and central Illinois. Temps are barely above 32 right now, so it's all melting from here.
smoof
4.25" so far, maybe squeak out 2" later today.

IWXwx
I'm sure that it's like this all over the sub, but this is just the major roads around Indy this morning!
CoachLB
What it looked like at 5am to go salt my lots. Not much has changed.

blue60007
Highways in Indy are skating rinks and parking lots, people been stuck for 10 hours. Air temp at 32 or a bit above, but ground temps are likely still below freezing.

Just wanted to share a brief conversation I just had with the Hendricks Co EM director. He told me his salt trucks have the ability to measure both air and ground temps. Currently, they're measuring 33-34 degrees air temp and 30-31 ground temp. Expect that to continue to rise through the morning, but the lagging ground temps are the issue currently. michsnowfreak
A beautiful winter wonderland outside. The entire system locally ended up performing differently than anticipated. Qpf was lighter but it now looks like it may not even crack freezing, when all week long it looked like it would be a thump of snow followed by rain and temps rising briefly into the 35-40F+ range. Woke up to a fresh 3.5" of snow imby (liquid 0.28"). I have now had 16.9" of snow in the last 7 days with a current settled depth of 10". Snowbanks galore...perfect Christmas atmosphere! DTW had 3.3" of snow overnight, so they have had 15.5" in the last 7 days.
Indystorm
Over 500 reported accidents and slide offs in Indy Metro just last night. Some people stranded on I-465 8 to 9 hrs. Only 33 here now. Supposed to make the low 40's...lower than predicted, but I have doubts we will make it unless that warm front down by Louisville surges northward with greater strength. wxman_ind
Had to go out on south side of Indy just a bit ago. Where roads are salted, it's mainly slush now. Untreated areas are still slick but some are developing ruts in the ice if there is traffic.
Harry Perry
3" in Battle Creek. Stopped snowing around 4am. Hopefully we can scrounge up another inch or two from the second stage of the storm.

Chambana
Huge temp bust here as well, was forecasted to reach the low to mid 40's just 24 hours ago. It's never touched above freezing and the cold front will be knocking on our door in a few hours. Main roads starting to slush up, parking lots, side walks, driveways are absolutely frightening. Local met was urging people to salt their driveways as tonight and tomorrow the salt will be ineffective.
ConvectiveIA
Last night brought a mix of freezing drizzle and pixie dust resulting in most of central IA looking like the surface of a 50 cent honey bun. Second wave has moved in, and it's snowing at a decent rate now. Eyeballing it, currently have 1/2 inch on open surfaces with 1-3 inch "drifts" and blowing snow. CoalCityWxMan
About a tenth of an inch of ice here, on top of snow from last night. The roads are finally under control for now after a scary night. Everything is going to remain pretty icy as temps plunge overnight on top of the layer of freezing drizzle & tonight's snow

Hoosier
12z RGEM is farther west with the lake plume...it hits Lake/Porter counties pretty good tonight and appears to swipe the Cook county shoreline for a while. Most of the other guidance is a bit farther east.
Stebo
Ended up adding another 1.25" overnight. Total 3.25". Maybe catch another inch tonight, I guess for a fugly system not too bad.
