We’ve got some huge (up to 3 to 4 inches in diameter) flakes/aggregates falling here at UVM at the moment; it’s a pretty neat scene.

Only seen that once, during a paste dump around the spring 2001 equinox - silver dollars suddenly looked more like folding money.  Weirdest were the occasional V-shaped ones that spun down like maple seeds.  (Fewer RPM, though.)

I saw about an hour ago it looked like Sugarbush changed over...

It is still dumping snow here and going back and forth between smaller aggregates and dinner plate sized stuff.  The end has to be near though.

Massive flakes right now mixed with smaller ones but these are probably the large flakes people are talking about.  They are like 1.5" in diameter.

Back to all snow in Stowe.

4.3" as of a little while ago but I can already see fresh accums on the board.

Has to be a good shot of liquid in this...it's heavy shoveling.

In complete hindsight because I love the job BTV does, but this is definitely a much more widespread Advisory level event than thought.  Roads are terrible and I bet .4-.5" liquid has fallen so far as snow.  That's a solid impact for plowing and that sort of thing.

Event totals: 3.9” Snow/0.44” L.E.

Details from the 5:00 P.M. Waterbury observations:

New Snow: 3.9 inches

New Liquid: 0.44 inches

Snow/Water Ratio: 8.9

Snow Density: 11.3% H2O

Temperature: 18.7 F

Sky: Sleet/Snow

Snow at the stake: 11.5 inches

Ah nice you just confirmed what I was finding with the heavy snow shoveling...under 10:1 ratios.

3.5" in North Waterboro.  Way more than expected (or desired)

Yeah looks like one of those where no one really expected it.  Plows and local plow companies seem to be caught off guard...there's 4-5"  of dense snow sitting in everyone's and every business's driveway right now while it continues to come down.

I honestly didn't believe the model QPF of 0.5-.75" as frozen but we'll get into that I think.

Ha and now pouring sleet mixed with some flakes.  Rarely get these events where the 0C basically stalls over us...that's reserved for south of the Pike lol.

Pretty fun watching it go back and forth.

Lyndon launched a special balloon, hit 0C at 664 mb. That was 19z though.

Was up at Waterville Valley today and the ride home went from dry snow all the way to rain.  Huge flakes for a short time just north of Plymouth where it was all sleet for awhile before going to all rain by Tilton.

Tried to get a pick of the huge flakes, but it didn't do em justice.

Was snowing hard on and off.

Pretty epic ride home similar to the pictures Bob posted, I knew immediately that a bust low was in progress over SMAINE as it was just dumping with the temp dropping quickly.

I thought you were there for 10 days? I swear you said that.
