Looking back at November/December 2005

Given how much we suck in November/December, this period was actually more impressive than I appreciated at the time.

From 11/23 - 12/15, I had five separate accumulating snowfall events in DC proper.  Instead of posting about all 5 at once, I'll post on the anniversary dates as they come up in separate posts.

This passed already but will post about it anyway.

Event #1

11/23/2005 - This was the night before Thanksgiving.  It snowed lightly all evening, but was kind of warm for good stickage.  I still managed 0.25".  This was the 2nd of 2 legit cold shots in the 2nd half of November.  Black Friday was 36/22 at DCA.

MBY - 0.25"

DCA - T

BWI - 0.5"

IAD - 0.3"

Event #2

12/3/2005 - This one was pretty wimpy, but we're weenies so they all matter.  This started late in the evening as light snow with temps around 34-35, and then flipped to light rain after a couple hours.   It was enough for a glorified car topper.

MBY - 0.25"

DCA - 0.1"

BWI - 0.2"

IAD - T

Right when it started

Event #3

12/5-6/2005 - This was the best of the 5 events imo, and kept up our December 5th tradition, that now seems to have vanished.  This was an all snow event with temps around 30 most of the event.  Started mid afternoon on Monday and ended early Tuesday morning.  Mostly light, but did rip pretty good in the evening and stick well.  Generally a 3-4" event, with higher totals up to 6" south and east of DC.

MBY - 3.25"

DCA - 2.9"

IAD - 2.6"

BWI - 3.3"
