If memory serves, the winters following those two Decembers were quite different, with 2013-2014 being cold, snowy, and EPO-driven? I remember 2008-2009 being unremarkable...

2008 2009 saw snowfall 125% of normal. So above average at least for coastal CT

Great analysis.  something nobody really mentioned but what's your thoughts on the convergence zones setting up over lakes and enhanced streamers pushing this Far East?... from what I can see (which is only basic) some of us have a real shot at getting caught in some enhancement

Those lakes are very warm.  You guys could see that stuff work it's way too you .

But better than that, you will stay on the right side of the Barroclinic zone and could rack up point with a lot of these systems.

We have the cold coming, but any chance of breaking this cutter pattern by Christmas?

What cutter pattern? I think that PB is eluding to. The models will catch up to the cold HP burrowing down into Canada.

I'm just going off the GFS, but it looks like it gets cold and always warms up to rain. Maybe the models are slow to catch it like you said.

I think the GFS is over amping some of the storms right now; the flow appears a bit too quick, with not much to slow it down on the Atlantic side in order to allow a traversing system to amp up and cut to the lakes. Definitely rolling the dice though, wouldn't be surprised if we get some ice storms as others have indicated.

Fellow Urban Heat Island residents, how are you spending the last few hours of our growing season?

Growing season, we will see you again in late March/early April!

LMAO they just did that because we were so far past the avg first freeze dates.  We still have plenty of things growing here - most stuff is gonna get killed this weekend though.

How was it more than two weeks after the average first freeze date on 11/25? LGA's average first freeze occurs on 11/24, NYC on 11/20, and JFK on 11/19. I'm confused.

Still hovering just above 32F, first freeze is either gonna happen this morning or tonight.
