Sophisticated Skeptic
Live feed of launch - https://www.nasa.gov/nasalive Exciting time for weather enthousiasts . Lets hope everything goes smooth. (no elon musk rocket, hopefully) 4:45 EST live coverage begins. 5:42 EST launch the only bummer is : Quote Once in orbit, the new satellite will undergo about 11 months of testing before it joins the operational fleet, which now numbers three units, NOAA said. hawkeye_wx
This is going to be awesome for tropical cyclones. 5 minute standard image frequency and 30 second rapid-scan, plus higher res.? Yes, please.

Yes, please. 5 minute is more useful for severe weather. TCs have produce to much noise over a 5 minute periods to deduce trends. I'm more interested in the spatial and spectral resolution for this purpose.
