Impressive. Chicago has never had a 4-day (or 3-day) stretch in February where it was warmer than LA until now. #cawx #ilwx

amazing too-those records were broken by 6-9 degrees in some cases...

All time warmest February temps will be the next potential big warm record there.

Wednesday through Monday...

The main story for Wednesday, you guessed it, record breaking
warmth. For potentially the 6th day in a row the area could be
setting record high temperatures. It is even likely that the
warmest conditions yet in the stretch will occur Wednesday, and
this could come near or even break the all time warmest
temperatures for the month of February. Southwest winds are
expected to become breezy out of the southwest during the day as
another fast moving Pacific system shifts eastward across the
Upper Great Lakes. Forecast guidance continues to suggest that
925 MB temperatures will warm back up around 15C over the area,
which given the warmth of late would easily support temperatures
into the low to middle 70s.

with little to no snowcover anywhere out there-would agree.   Guidance is often a bit too low on these events as well.

I lived there during the wacky 98-99 winter. Saw record breaking warmth and near 70 in late November into mid December. Then a flip to extreme cold, a blizzard to open January with below zero temps to follow then a flip to warm again for late Jan and Feb. That turned into a very mild spring and summer as well

Just looked at EURO Weeklies and 500mb heights look safely below normal, continuously, from Mar. 07-18.

go to the Feb Model Discussion threads they are expecting a "torch" in March.........I agree with the Euro Weeklies  Joe Rao and Joe Cioffi mentioned them in their discussions tonight and believe they have a chance of verifying.........

Chicago has an interesting cold temperature history. The coldest temperatures there since 1872 were in the late 1970's and 1980's instead of 1917 and 1934 in NYC. Maybe NYC could have come closer to the 1917 and 1934 cold records if those winters had the center  of the cold further east instead of the MW and OV.

I'd think it's becoming harder to see those kinds of extreme temps if you're near the ocean.  The oceans serve as heatsinks in a warming climate (one of the reasons why the Arctic is much warmer than the Antarctic- although the Antarctic seems to be warming up now too.)\

That was one of our hottest summers, following the 11 year cyclic pattern.  Many of its records were broken in 2010.
