Was driving to work today and I noticed piles of leaves on the street in front of houses in Garden City. Turns out the city has annual leaf collection, where residents simply blow the leaves into the street, and the city cleans them up.

I would love to have that.

Most places up here have that too.

A lot of the towns in North Jersey do that; I do not live in one of those towns. However, being I have no immediate neighbors, into the woods the leaves will go.

Yeah, we don't have it either.  I've dumped some in the woods but eventually I realized it's easier to just bag and throw em' to the curb.

We get 3 leaf pickups in the fall. Unfortunately since they're a month apart sometimes the leaves sit there in piles before they get picked up

Never understood the must dispose of leaves in the fall mentality like they are refuse. Always ran a leaf mulching run with the mower over them in the fall on two properties utilizing the organic fertilizer that they are. Never fertilized a lawn and and usually have among the greenest lawns in the neighbourhood. Silly humans.

Yeah agree...The mulching mower does the trick.

They make us pack it into bags here in Union Twp. The next town to the north however, does not need too.

I was in Piscataway up until July this year, and we had to bag them there.  This new town picks them up, it was a nice change.  Though I did mulch like 99% of what I had.  I actually have to do it one more time tomorrow in a few area's then should be done for the year finally.

That's fine for the grass, but it still doesn't get rid of the mounds in our back patio from various neighbors trees.

Great news. Just landed a new job in West Milford NJ. With that I have found an apartment located in Hardyston Township, NJ. Pumped up! New Job, New Area, and with that, the Township itself has an elevation of over 1,000'. Won't have to be watching those snow/rain lines anymore, haha.

Will be moving in the next few months.

Damn. NJ For the win i guess.

Wow. I didn't realize that vaccing up leaves was not really common practice outside of NJ. I live in northeastern Bergen county and all towns around here have it.

My best friend works for Alpine DPW and besides plowing, "leaf season" is the biggest job they do. They work 60 hours a week from mid October to mid December just vacuuming leaves up from the curbs. The properties in that town are huge though, but leaf season is a very big deal around here (at least in his field it is).
