This board is absolutely unreadable at the moment. The whole torch v. non torch fight is so stupid. The models showed above normal, weenies weren't happy and then the models show above normal but less so and the weenies are now yelling "what torch!" With every post. With every freaking post.

We get it. It won't be 70. We get it. Time to move on already. You all are acting like 5 year olds. And we are entering the coldest time of the year, so even above normal temps for our nw posters can lead to snow for them. But you guys must know this.

4 degrees above normal down here precludes snow chances, not so nw.

And with respect to the merits of the argument, obviously 4-5 degrees above normal is not a torch. A torch implies +10 or greater positive departures, like this past Sunday when I hit 60. That is a torch, not 50.

Move on.

umm this is a banter thread.  RELAX

Vaguely reminds me of December 2013.  If memory serves, it was a weenie suicide fest as we torched around Xmas as Maine received an ice storm.  Pattern flipped abruptly and the first of many snowstorms hit on January 3rd.  Winter held on for quite awhile that year.

Definitely plenty of reasons for optimism IMO!

We had multiple storms that January and February.

The mid atlantic got a few snowstorms in March that winter.

It does.  We had a big storm around 1/3, but then a cutter in between arctic outbreaks.    Another break around 1/10 or 1/15 before the cold really came for good.   March was a downer though, cold and dry.  Tons of cold air that year though...rarely do we see multiple storms with snow falling and single digit to low teens type temps.

December 2013 was a more favorable pattern for snowfall here. We got a stronger -EPO combined with a +PNA  and 8.6" vs 3.2" this December in NYC.

Nothing like the daily snow pack updates:

"Some crust under the trees, 1-2 inches at best, maybe it can last until Christmas..."

Next day:

"2-3 inches of snowpack here, wow, best winter ever, white Christmas incoming!"

Next day:

"Deep winter up here with solid snow pack, what torch?"

Next day:

"Yards are covered in snow up here, wow, cant snow in this pattern!"

Next day:

"Tons of snow everywhere, December to remember"

Yawn

You don't know me and JC all that well if you think we're riled up, and I hope that you really aren't either.  Anyway back to the fun,
