People forget it's early November and averages are around 58/45. Those expecting full on mid-winter conditions at this juncture are totally kidding themselves. In my view, the weather has been pretty typical for early November...50-60F during the day, 35-45F at night. This weekend looks cold w 516dam thicknesses in upstate NY; coast should see highs in the mid 40s with lows are 30F, while interior will struggle to get out of the 30s with low 20s at night. Definitely a good wintry blast.

in 2012 NYC got 6" of snow in places...then we had to wait till February for more significant snow...in 1953 NYC got a coastal storm with snow at first, then rain and ind...Heavy flooding with that storm...almost sandy like...The next snowfall was in mid January 1954...The storm of 53 is a lost storm in NYC weather history...

1953 from the Brooklyn Eagle...

As shallow night time inversions go, this one is very shallow.  It's 28 at the surface at OKX and 48 at 85 meters (about 300 feet) on the tower.  Similar up in the Catskills where currently it is 28 in Tannersville (~1900 feet)  and 46 all the way up at 3200 feet on top of the ski lifts at Hunter.

It's 32 here, which is a bit of a surprise because we are within a couple miles of the Sound.  2 miles south in town was frosty already much earlier this evening.  It's frosty pretty much everywhere now except right next to the Sound where most temps are running in the low 40s.  It's probably at least that warm on a handful of hilltops too (for example, Jaynes' Hill at 400 feet probably isn't pooling too much cold air tonight).

As soon as there is any significant mixing after sunrise, areas in the 20's will be in the high 40s in the blink of an eye.  I could see FOK going from 20 to 50 in less than an hour.
