ORH_wxman
I wouldn't call '87 a HECS. I mean I guess if you adjust for time of year in certain spots but I was thinking we were saying in an absolute sense. When the max snows are in the 10-12" range that doesn't scream historical to me. I might make an exception if it was early October instead. It was a pretty awesome storm though.

CoastalWx
Dec 92 was a QPF bomb. Had some freshwater flooding in SE MA from what I remember. Those also may have been from my tears after I turned to rain.

qr7121
it is interesting to bring up 11/87.... i dislike using analogs but in this case it seems more than coincidental that we are the next biggest yr here.
qr7121
https://twitter.com/antmasiello/with_replies 1950, 61, 81, 87, 2000 look like best matches to me coincidentally many of them featured very large events in Nov/Dec... as our climate has become more ridiculous/exaggerated since those, i think the probability of something extremely anomalous (i.e., our first legit November HECS) has also gone up

At risk of a pre-season meltdown, after the crap seasons GC has experience since the Rocktober storm, we better have at least one SEP this year (Storm of Epic Proportions). I don't care if that means you out east get rain as a result. Back to splitting wood now. Have a great day everyone!
