Met1985
Still snowing nicely here. Approaching 3 inches of snow and looks like we have this all night. Nice banding and should get better through the night. No pics tonight but I'll post some tomorrow morning.

SnoJoe
Been sippin' all day so my last ob of the night. Just measured and the last scrape calculated to a tenth below 4 inches. If I can get to 5 overnight I'll take it. Nice little storm! Enjoy, ma hillbillies!

NavarreDon
No morning obs? I guess everyone is sleeping in. Looks like a bunch of kids got a free pass today as the A C-T shows multiple counties out of school. As always curious to know how Buncombe fared? SnoJoe
Ended up with 6.5 here. Cold this morning, 15.4 with a stiff breeze. Expectations are so low this winter this event seemed like a big deal. Let's get one more big storm in here before winters over then call it quits. I'd be really interested to see how areas of northern Watauga faired, close to snake mountain and zionville. They were getting walloped on radar around midnight. I got to watch this storm from start to finish this time, and there was something strange about your area. Don't know if it was trajectory or what, but radar returns would never fill in in your area. Temps hurt you too but something else was going on. Even JC got in on it before you did. You could see it on the water vapor loops too. Just a dry hole there this time. Weird. It was basically being dryslotted the whole time, but now sure how or why that happens.
FlatLander48
looking at the 6z models, I'm astounded. the storm on the 8th took the absolute best path possible for us to get a huge snow, but no cold air. and the storm on the 6th is worrying me, but there's time for change. I'm sure the official measurement at the airport will be an inch or two higher due to it being more west in the county, but the measurement at my house total is 9 inches. Tyler Penland
Wind was blowing so bad when I woke up it had drifted around, but best I could measure was an average around 2". Not bad all things considered. Drifts up to around 6" ha.
Tyler Penland
Euro has an ice look on Sunday for the CAD areas. Starts as snow for the mountains, decent thump of snow for the northern half of the mountains before transitioning to ZR and eventually R. All rain on the 8th. FlatLander48
My thoughts on the 18z GFS for the Feb 8th storm.(Paying more attention to it right now). that run was crap. the GL low on the 12z got replaced by a HP but the temps were worse. I fully believe that if this were closer, temps would be reduced by 2-3 degrees at the least resulting in a decent thumping for us in the HC. that was yet another perfect track for us but I don't buy the temps that are portrayed. Just my opinion on what I'm seeing. Edit* I don't buy the storm on the 6th turning into a fropa. at least not yet.
franklin NCwx
The 18z was all northern stream and killed the mid levels.
Tyler Penland
Well the models have gone to crap again. Still 12/51 members on the 0z EPS had 2 or more inches of snow (or ZR equivelent) in Boone on Sunday, though.
