Frits, that's way above my pay grade, but the forecast discussion only mentioned that some snow showers could break containment to the NW piedmont. They also mentioned Swain and Haywood above 3500 but nothing about Asheville and the French Broad river valley.

Weather has called for warm temperatures in foothills for sunday's forecast.in upper 40s to 50 no precipitation for foothills or Asheville area calling for clear sky and sunny snow forecast is only in mountain region to Tennessee border, also snowfall above 3500 feet at higher elevations. That's the only place that's gonna see snow and cloudy up there all.others in foothills will be clear skies and sunny tomorrow with warming up a bit to around 50 it was 55 near 60 in wilkesboro today said 43 i laughed out it wasn't cold hardly in my area nobody was wearing coats or jackets, well maybe next time winter comes back to foothills for now winter is in mountain areas as forecasted.earlier when I checked it,I knew it would be sunshine tomorrow in my area a bit warmer here where you all are will be cold with winter there,OK have fun enjoy the snow up there I don't expect to look out tomorrow for anything cause of sunny weather and warm out will warm up Monday they said close to 60 Monday morning I guess there.is not enough in air to bring snow that far anyway except for higher elevations.hmmm oh well I will see.about late Feb or March if any more comes iny area if not then it's gonna be a wrap up of winter In foothills to be warming up more of spring out there.that will mean foothills got a.chance to see winter storm Helena we had and the snowfall we got was the last time it would fall here.sounds like one snowfall is all we were gonna get here that's it,rest is all winter in mountains for remainder of this season.

Bob, we have all of February and most of it looks like a good chance for something to happen.  Winter is by no means over.

Edit* February and March.

Interesting potential map, I can't believe they put Brine down on 26 and Highway 176 in Polk and Henderson County's already for the little potential...

I noticed the same thing. We went to dinner and they were spraying everything. I think the DOT guys haven't had much to do this winter and they want to burn some inventory.  Not going to be much, but with this winter I'll take. I'm more of a snow guy than a cold. Every flake counts!
