gulfcoast23
Hi everyone, I just joined the board and I am somewhat of a weather newbie. My question for yall is how does Hurricane Matthew out towards the Atlantic effect the winds all the way off the coast of Louisiana? Im seeing projections of 25 knots and seas as high as 10 feet of the coast of Grand Isle (louisaina) this weekend. Im assuming the unusually high winds are a side effect from the hurricane, and just wanted a little more of an educated explanation. Thanks! Roger Smith
The connection is indirect, the wind gradient over that part of the Gulf is due to a northerly flow developing behind a cold front that is in the trough being mentioned as a feature that could absorb Matthew in a few days.
