I ended up going from a desert to a tropical rain forest in 2 weeks. 

September rainfall total- 8.05"

What will October bring? Not sure I want a tropical storm, but a few rain events and some cool sunny days sure would be nice.

Maybe the foliage will have more color than expected.

SINCE AUGUST OF 1941. ADDITIONAL TEMPERATURE RECORDS FOR THE
WASHINGTON DC AREA EXTEND BACK TO JANUARY OF 1872.
