sctvman
Same on JI. Saw a transformer blow about an hour ago. Probably gusting 55-60 here. Relying on the radio for updates. Most of the FMs in town are simulcasting either 2, 4 or 5.
Dunkman
108kts flight level in the NE eyewall. That's pretty impressive.

Worst angle for CHS area. It'll be interesting to see what the highest wind gust will be downtown. My friends own the Which Doctor on Folly and live on James. She posted this pic on FB lol.... It was est. at 9' in Hugo at the Customs House. I was there and can tell you it was probaly higher, they didn't have good measuring systems back then. It was 13 at our house on IOP. It was on 15 ft stilts. This could very well match Hugo in surge and in wind in CHS proper. I believe the Highest gust in Hugo was around 110 downtown with like 85 sustained. I'm not saying this a Hugo, things were much different around there back then.

swva
Eyewall has started to come ashore.. Tornado warnings in some of the bands to the NE of the eye are popping up everywhere. Pretty common when hurricane begins to make landfall. More affirmation it is coming ashore soon.

From the looks of it you might get lucky and get into the NE quad. That 16 feet might get you an extra 10mph. Enjoy!

Even the winds did that earlier here. Between 1am and 130am during a very intense squall, peak gust estimated 55mph here but since up until now with this new squall, winds were down 25-30 gusts to 40-45. Jackstraw
The western parts of the eye just coming ashore. Frictional interaction with land will try and pull it west. Saw somewhere someone said Savannah was built on a bluff. Partially true by the river up by 17. But the that part of the town is built down to the river. They made it sound like Savannah was on a cliff. You got some good stuff coming! Try and stay awake lol. You may very well get to be in the eye, a very rare and special moment IMO. Jackstraw
Piling tides in. Tides come in half goes out and so on. This thing is taking the absolute worst angle to pile tides into CHS. Residual tides were almost 2 feet at around 1pm today.
Ser Pounce
Wind has picked up at my location, just upriver from Charles Towne Landing for anyone keeping track, and amazingly enough we still have power! SCE&G really knew what they were doing when they trimmed all the trees near per lines over the last two years.
Jackstraw
Looking like Pritchards Island/Beaufort going to be LF unless it decides to start the NE turn. That will keep pushing water into CHS even longer. Last recon center fix is due E of Savannah.
