Wind driven misery mist. That's always nice.

We had a couple more heavy cells move thru here Mark once i got back from the show, At least the temps are dropping to more seasonable levels now so it feels more fall like, Greens, Dacks and Berks are looking quite wintry though................:snowman:

I went past Bromley around 3 and there were a few mangled flakes in the air.  Came back over Rte 4 from Rutland past Killington around 7:40 or so.  There was snow below the gap level and it appeared to be covering cars but not the ground as far as I could tell.

38F here at the house.

Well, accumulation has hit the 0.1” mark, so this will represent the first accumulating snow of the season.  It’s actually a few days behind average for first frozen precipitation (Oct 19th) but a few days ahead of average first accumulation snow (Oct 26th) according to my data.

I see that there have been some evening updates to some of the BTV NWS maps – there’s a Winter Weather Advisory down in Southern Vermont now, and there’s an update to the projected accumulations map as of late this evening, although I think it’s the same as earlier with projected accumulations near the summits around here in 8-12” range.

Event totals: 0.2” Snow/1.31” L.E.

I had time to do a snowboard clearing at midnight – it’s snowing pretty hard, but the temperature is still a bit above freezing so the accumulation is slow and the consistency is very slushy.

Details from the 12:00 A.M. Waterbury observations:

New Snow: 0.2 inches

New Liquid: 0.09 inches

Snow/Water Ratio: 2.2

Snow Density: 45.0% H2O

Temperature: 33.4 F

Sky: Snow (1-10 mm flakes)

Snow at the stake: Trace

Event totals: 0.6” Snow/2.06” L.E.

There was definitely a solid shot of moisture over the past 6 hours because I found another 0.84” of liquid in the rain gauge, which was put into winter mode at midnight.  I’m not sure if accumulations reached any higher during the overnight, but the boards had 0.4” of very dense slush on them since they were cleared.  The mountains must have had at least an inch of liquid as snow out of this event based on what I saw down here.

Details from the 6:00 A.M. Waterbury observations:

New Snow: 0.4 inches

New Liquid: 0.32 inches

Snow/Water Ratio: 1.3

Snow Density: 80.0% H2O

Temperature: 35.6 F

Sky: Light Snow (1-3 mm flakes)

Snow at the stake: 0.5 inches

Looks like the snow line is a bit lower on our side which is strange - I'm only at 1550. Was this synoptic or upslope? Surprised that wildcat got so little

Nice paste job! Good start to the season for you.

I don't know about know much about wildcat, seems like the highestest totals were on windward side of ranges which is where you are. Wildcat is on the SE side of the presidentials during NW flow events, maybe they downsloped a bit? Not sure.

Wildcat looked windblown. I bet they had more than a coating. MWN is 16F and blowing at 80kts..lol.
