Chinook
A narrow band of moderate snow is hitting Kansas City area, perhaps making the tornado cleanup effort a little harder

Chinook
I am testing out the new precip-type color feature of GRLevel3, based off HRRR analysis of precip-type. The HRRR may get confused when so much of the lower atmosphere is close to 32F. Well, then again, you guys are saying there is sleet. I think sleet might be the orange color palette. lookingnorth
Well, this winter was terrible after mid-January. I rate it a D.
Cerakoter1984
Yeah. December pretty much carries the whole positive portion of the grade for this winter. Very low D for a grade overall is pretty accurate.
JoMo
AO was nearly + the entire winter except for a few days in Feb.

JoMo
Looks like some people may get some moisture from Tropical Storm Cindy. Especially down south. Looks like the models have backed off on a strong nino for winter. Looks neutral to weak nino at this time.
Cerakoter1984
Yeah, JoMo, definitely not going with a strong or even moderate Niño at this point. I'm glad to see the possibility of a neutral winter next season. Let the other variables play ball and see what happens.
JoMo
Summer doldrums are here again. Models backing off on the El Nino look.... Looking more like a neutral.

Neutral is historically a good look, correct? And yes, once Labor Day rolls around we can start having something to talk about. Football at the least and winter predictions shortly thereafter. Still depends on other factors though. About a 50% chance of neutral as of last update. Nino around 35%.
Cerakoter1984
As of right now, this year has a 2008 type feel to it. Very similar weather overall. Going to be hard not to have it as an early analog for fall and winter.
JoMo
Looking increasingly like we're going to get a La Nina this winter. Most blue I've seen on the JAMSTEC in a long time.

Interesting seasonal forecast: I buy the precip plots, I do think the temp plots need to be shifted a bit west and introduce an above normal along the east coast at least to the mid Atlantic.
