Overnight EURO is sticking to the idea of a light snow event for most of us Thursday. Looks to have come in a bit heavier, too. That is a relative term.

GFS is starting to pick up on some flurries during this time period as well on the 06z model run. Still think the weekend storm is out to lunch on the GFS but we shall see.

12z GEM is just going to basically have flurries or very light snow most likely.

The difference has to do with the closed low off the OR coast and the northern system across MT depicted here. The GFS keeps them separate and the northern system pushes through and then the closed low (opens up) and produces the above depicted snow a little later. The GEM shears the OR system out, which just leads to flurries and very light snow.

The fair question is, could the GFS and the pGFS plus the ensembles really bust that badly this close to the event? It's pretty crazy that the GFS ensemble has shown snow for most of us the entire time and it'd only getting better as we go while the Euro is all over the place.
