Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-J320AZ using Tapatalk The 00z run wasn't any better or worse than the 12z run earlier. Better than the GFS that went north. OK for STL but not so much us further SW. There's still plenty of time to sort things out.

MUWX
On a non winter weather note, were getting some orettt heavy rain right now with thunder and lightning, maybe even a little hail on the east side of Monett. We sure needed the rain.
Spot
haha took a few days break from the models ( was kinda tough ) and look they are still up to no good guys.lol
Wx 24/7
Overnight EURO is sticking to the idea of a light snow event for most of us Thursday. Looks to have come in a bit heavier, too. That is a relative term. GFS is starting to pick up on some flurries during this time period as well on the 06z model run. Still think the weekend storm is out to lunch on the GFS but we shall see. JoMo
12z GEM is just going to basically have flurries or very light snow most likely. The difference has to do with the closed low off the OR coast and the northern system across MT depicted here. The GFS keeps them separate and the northern system pushes through and then the closed low (opens up) and produces the above depicted snow a little later. The GEM shears the OR system out, which just leads to flurries and very light snow.
Spot
Yep not much here at all GEM.
Wx 24/7
I am curious about the cold air. The GEM is very deep with the arctic plunge, the GFS seems very nonchalant about it, and the EURO is somewhere in between. Does the GEM have a cold air bias? WhiteoutWX
GFS progression looks highly suspect to me and I'd say the chances of it handling such a compact and tiny shortwave correctly from 5 days out are extremely remote.
JoMo
12z Euro is going to crush it as well. Some flurries/light snow across KS/MO on Wed night/Thurs. Maybe some more flurries Thurs night and Friday across S OK/S AR.
Spot
Oh well not shocked at all.
The Waterboy
So we're somewhere between flurries and 10 inches. Sounds about right...
Cerakoter1984
The fair question is, could the GFS and the pGFS plus the ensembles really bust that badly this close to the event? It's pretty crazy that the GFS ensemble has shown snow for most of us the entire time and it'd only getting better as we go while the Euro is all over the place. JoMo
GEM/Euro in one camp, GFS in the other camp, inside of 5 days... I know which camp my money is on.
