Wx 24/7
I am beginning to turn my thoughts toward a very nasty question for snow lovers: what is the depth of the cold air going to be? NWS Little Rock had a good AFD last night and mentioned that getting pure rain or pure snow out of a system like this one isn't likely. I just don't want pure ice either. bdgwx
The SPC has issued a critical fire risk outlook today for parts of KS, OK, and MO. I happen to be near Joplin and saw one of the fire departments dealing with a wildfire last night.

JoMo
12z Euro is going to go with a super long duration frozen event it looks like for KS/S 1/2 of MO, OK, AR. Southern Missouri gets the most with 6" or so showing up.

Wx 24/7
Yep. Sounds like the EURO is showing an event that is long duration as well. That is the type of system we haven't had in a while. Most of ours are short duration intense snowfalls. If we get the snow it is spitting out...cold, cold, cold for sure!

JoMo
12z Euro ensemble mean shifted the frozen farther north in N KS down to Central MO with the heaviest. Individual members shifted north as well. Couple still have a more southern track.
ouamber
Good grief..at this point anyone from N Kansas to New Orleans could be getting snow. Which one will be right? Lol
Wx 24/7
Haha, now this will probably miss us to the north after having been suppressed too far to the south. Sounds like our luck.

Wx 24/7
18z GFS tends to be somewhat in line with the EURO on some general ideas. Not identical, mind you, but closer than they have been.
