Ours has about a month before she starts. Only two days a week for three hours, but still...

Ours is going three days a week. before care, preschool, after care. But yeah, school itself is only 9-12. But right, still... time goes by too fast.

Sent my kid off to her first day of preschool today *sniff* they grow up too fast.

That's got to be a rough day for you, for sure.  Our oldest will go off to kindergarten next year and I'm already stressed about it.  That will be one of the hardest days of my life.  I dread the thought of dropping her off into the hands of strangers.

It wasnt as bad as I thought. She has been going to daycare, full time, since she was eight weeks old. So I'm used to the whole, drop off, enjoy your day, see you later, kind of thing. Just a milestone for us, and a reminder how fast time flies.

it helps if they have already been in some sort of daycare type setting prior to preschool or kindergarten.  Sure there is some anxiety about going to a new place with different kids but kids adapt very quickly.  If they see someone else having fun they will jump right in.

Now I say that with my oldest now being a freshman in HS.   i can't handle this.  Too old, too soon.  And he's almost as big as i am.  1" shorter.............and only 14.

Mine is at home with my wife, and the two haven't been separated for more than about eight hours in any given stretch since the little lady began staying at home when my daughter was about 12 weeks old. Only three hours' separation won't be too big a deal, and the fact that neighborhood friends' kids go to that pre-school is a big help.

Now...

We have a wedding to attend in Leesburg in October, and I'm going to see if my wife wants to stay the night at the wedding hotel since grandma will be in town to watch the little one. Not sure if she (wife) would be able to handle that!

The tropical weenies are hoping that a wonderful crabbing season comes to an abrupt end! Keep your canes out of the Bay!

I'm with you on the pumpkin (spice) beers. Some people like spice-forward and thinner, but for me a fall spiced beer needs some real malt backbone and good body. Good luck with it!

Aslin is in a little strip mall in Herndon - right by the Fairfax County Parkway/Dulles Toll Road interchange near the W&OD trail. Their releases are really popular, so if you're looking to bring home a crowler you need to get there early, as they only have 250 crowlers of each beer available (each person gets to purchase two of each). The other thing is that they often sell out of their more popular beers at the bar, and don't always tap a new beer to replace it (they sell pretty much everything very fresh), but they're open all day as long as beer is available to be tapped. And it's a tiny place, so capacity is probably about 50-60 people.

The nice thing about making a trip to breweries down here is that there are a lot in a fairly small area, so you can always hit a couple if you want to make an afternoon out of it.

Thanks for the info. We will do exactly what you suggested; do a little research and make an afternoon of it. It's a good time of year to find a hike out to your west and then spend an afternoon getting the calories back.

Even in this forum environment, your post made me think, "Already?!?"

Although most of us don't really know each other, the milestones we post about do hit home to me that time really does fly.

Posting this here in the hopes that if there's to be a debate, it stays out of the tropical thread. But all I wanted to say is that I remember when Katrina and Sandy were developing on the models and everyone was getting excited and giddy over the model porn 100 - 200 hours out. But I think that's part of the fun for weather weenies; watching the models do a direct hit in their hometown with a monster storm. I also remember as things developed in the days leading up to the both of the mentioned storms, that no one was wishing for what everyone knew was going to be devastating.

As someone posted in the tropical thread, what's going on now is foe entertainment. Watching models and "rooting" for storms is what most of us do. I love all the pretty colors on the model runs. But if there was a cat 4 or 5 storm on our doorstep, there would be a different tone in here. Most of us know that.

When it gets real and things look serious the tone always changes. It becomes one of impact analysis and we go into prep mode. But there is never a reason to tone down enthusiasm for the natural event imho.

It is 100% impossible for any true weather enthusiest to not feel the electricity of an approaching  impact event. The emotions can include worry, fear, and nerves but its always exciting too. It's why the board exists. I'll never feel a single molecule of guilt for my desire of the experience.

i think it's cool that howard never changes.  the board needs personalities like him.  the old guy yelling at cloud types are always fun.
