Mrs.J
Man that storm over me is intense. Had a lightning strike hit something right behind out house. The sky lit up and the sound and shake about sent me jumping. Internet is out thinking a service box may have been hit.
Mrs.J
Adding that the back side of this storm keeps cycling over me. We are getting a lot of water dumped on us. My station currently is at 1.50".
Kmlwx
Was just driving north out of the city on Conn Ave and the sky was lighting up like there was a war happening. Really cool to see.

EastCoast NPZ
Not so much as a threat of a rain-producing cloud today. High 94F. Absolute desiccant dryness. What a disaster this month has been.

EastCoast NPZ
8/5: .65" 8/6: .96" 8/12: .10" 8/15: .18" 8/17: .35" Month: 2.24" Season: 10.36" That's a wrap for MET summer 2016, though - of course - summer weather will continue well into October. Total of 39 90+ days IMBY, 36 of which have come just since July 6. July had 19 days and August had 17. A truly miserable 2-month stretch of weather that shows no signs of significantly abating. The summer was one long humid drought, briefly interrupted by a remarkably wet 9-day stretch at the end of July and beginning of August. 6.14" of this summer's rain fell in that stretch, leaving just 4.22" falling for the remainder of the ENTIRE SUMMER. Let that sink in.... 4.22" of rain over nearly 3 months, 2 months of which were historically hot. It is dust-bowl conditions here. I live in the world's only humid desert. MN Transplant
11.35" on the summer, which I guess it technically right around average but it didn't feel like it. (DCA's average summer precip is 10.44", IAD is 11.18") 90° days June: 3 July: 19 Aug: 19 Total: 41 (8 were at 89°, so an additional degree gets me very close to DCA's total)
mappy
nice stats - took a look at mine 15.01" for the summer high: 97 low: 44.5 17 days 90 or above.
