Kmlwx
Couple of great booms of thunder. Very loud. Have had the UPS click on a few times already.

Hoping the storms down south put on a good show.
jnis
Some heavy rain here with a few close by lightning strikes but that has been it here. I think I got between the two cells the sort of split over north moco. Nice cool down!
mappy
Looks like I may get some good rain/T&L in a bit. Hoping to make it to gymnastics class before it hitsSent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Stormpc
Partly sunny here. 94. It's not going to rain here or in Burke or Alexandria. Mark my words.
Kmlwx
58mph gust reported near Washington Grove, MD in Montgomery County. Source: mesonet
Kmlwx
Echo tops on today's cells have been quite impressive - most of the cells have been over 50kft and some up into the mid 50s. I suppose that's what you get with so much fuel available.
Kmlwx
The outflow boundary over DC is lighting up rapidly now on radar. And further showers storms behind in Western Fairfax Co.

I was watching that split on Radarscope - real heavy stuff just south, from about Rt 118 in Germantown southward (2 miles south of me), and the other big cell that hit Ballenger Creek to Urbana. We did get 0.5 which I'm happy for but dang I had a severe warned cell coming directly at me from 5-10 miles away and it split at the last minute. WxUSAF
Not sure what's severe about this storm besides having 50-60dbz radar returns, but very heavy rain and some decent T+L. 0.87" already in the bucket with more to come.
NorthArlington101
Can see lightning from what I assume is at the edge of D.C from my house on the very edge of Arlington. Don't usually get that kind of visibility until it gets a bit dark. The real time lightning map is having a blast with this one. https://www.lightningmaps.org/#y=38.9363;x=-77.3277;z=10;t=3;m=sat;r=0;s=0;o=0;b=;n=0;d=2;dl=2;dc=0;
jnis
The one hour estimated storm total from NWS site really shows the split I mentioned earlier.

Probably mostly warned from the earlier 58mph gust report in MoCo. MoCo has a lot of calls for wires down and a few for trees into houses.

NorthArlington101
Storm is doing work in College Park. Still seeing cloud-to-ground from miles away, which really speaks to the lightning this storm is producing.

Yeah I was watching that warned cell on radar and quickly looked out the window to only see sprinkles. If you check out the NWS one hour rainfall you can really see where the cells tracked... But I agree, the .5" or so is just fine for me.

Bob Chill
Just ran to the store. Judging by the number of branches littering the roads and yards it looks like we got some gusts in the 40's. The cool part was the highest wind happened with the heaviest rain. It was a low vis rain blizzard. Great storm

Kmlwx
Calmed down here and barely hearing thunder anymore. Stuff is going to hit Southern Maryland from the stuff down in Bowling Green, VA area. Also watching that Culpeper activity - could be a 2nd round if that stuff doesn't shunt too far east.
smokeybandit
THis one's packing a punch. Most T&L I've seen in a long time. Probably going to be 1.5-2" by the time it's done, maybe more.

dailylurker
It's turned out to be a great evening here. I've missed most of the rain so far, but the lightning has been awesome. The storm that's lagging back in PG is really loud. It's been constant thunder for about 25 minutes.
nw baltimore wx
Wow. That was a legit storm. Still raining but the worst of the thunder and lightning has moved east.
WxUSAF
1.77" of rain. Legit, and not quite done yet. Wonder if those storms SW of DC might make it here?
