mattinpa
I don't see September being as hot this year. I think the heat next week is short lasting. Remember that we don't usually get hot Septembers nowadays even though the last two were. And the GFS has been pretty consistent at least showing cooler relative to normal than we have seen lately. July and Aug have been brutal though.

This weeks cool down will produce 1 or 2 average days at best before we're right back above. Well let's say it's 85 for ewr. Right now only Tuesday stays below that. Even tomorrow was bumped up to the mid 80s. The lows will probably help us achieve a couple below normal days

Very cool looking storms from the train to the north, pretty sure I saw a wall cloud west of Huntington. I was actually in Commack yesterday and experienced the event yesterday afternoon. I also saw rotation in the clouds for a bit over East Northport. I am a Skywarn spotter with Mt. Holly and was actually contemplating a phone call but then the feature was no longer there. I saw something similar but more pronounced in Bethlehem, PA where I live about 2 - 3 weeks ago in a T-Storm and it actually dropped a tornado in Warren Cty., NJ about 20 minutes later. The flooding in Dix Hills was impressive with road closures. There were places along Jericho Tpke with 6" on the road and curbs under water. Impressive event.
