Actually not at all. Maybe a slight boost but upwell down only 20 feet and temps are in the 50s. Especially if the track is a normal recurve which puts us on the offshore wind so e which really really upwells. We need another sandy track

I think these maps illustrate the concept. Surface temperatures are one thing, but how deep the warmth is relates to the oceanic heat content and that is what matters for the tropics. There is minimal heat content even in our toasty surface temps. It basically ends after the gulf stream

What a torch!  Has to be some +5's and +6's from 7/15 to 8/15

The 31 day average temperature at LGA from 7/16 to 8/15 was 83.1 degrees.

This was just above the warmest July 2010..82.8 and the warmest August  2005...80.9 degrees.

Most stations broke their 90 degree streak today...88 here for hi.

Yeah, streak over today. Only managed 85.8F here after a 75 low this morning. 850mb temperatures cooled off rather dramatically during the day. South NJ and coastal NJ reached the low 90s. Gorgeous summer day.

It's amazing how much cooler it feels compared to the past few days despite still rather high temps/dews.

Below normal temps are going to feel ice cold if we ever see them.

Going to need a sweat shirt if it dips below 70 LoL
