Juliancolton
The meso models go crazy with precip rates from like 5-7z (potentially for quite a while longer if you believe the HRRR) as the surface low starts rapidly deepening. NorthShoreWx
Sleeping in a tent in northern Harriman at 1300 feet tonight (up toward Rte 6). Sounds like it could get interesting later. Hopefully not a tent crusher. Maybe some surprised scouts in the middle of the night.

UlsterCountySnowZ
Btw has anyone been following the launch of today's weather satellite Goes-R... supposedly it's some super high tech, next gen weather satellite that will revolutionize forecasting.... anyone have any good reads about it? Some of the boys are in the lean-to with a nice fire and we may have to send some more in there...they have a way of getting wet when there's no good reason to. Raining and howling wind for the past 15 minutes. I was on top of my bag but no more; got much colder quickly with the rain and wind.

Tatamy
I am on a hilltop in Bethlehem, PA. It is 35 degrees here with light snow and sleet. The ground is already whitened here. This system is for real folks and the weather that I am getting here now will be yours in northern NJ / SE NY in just a couple of hours.
JerseyWx
Mt. Holly being conservative as usual. Don't think I'll see much here, but my guess for NJ is around 1,000 feet for accumulations.

Juliancolton
Still 51F here. The front has gotten pretty wavy and seems to have stalled in some places... HRRR and Albany radar velocities suggest the boundary surges through mby almost from due north in about an hour. Sort of interesting.

There could actually be some pretty solid ratios during periods of heavier precip in the early morning. If it's cold enough to stick, this isn't a bad look at all for snow growth... snywx
NAM/RGEM/GFS give the area 2-4". 1-2" is prob more realistic but can't rule out a 3" amount above 1000'
