The cold front is slowly advancing north still 40s in N TX with 70s and 80s in SE TX. E TX should see a line of strong storms tomorrow afternoon with temps falling from the mid 70s ahead of the front to 50s by evening and 30s by Wed morning. Thu morning could again see frost for NE TX. Temps then warm ahead of a strong front on Friday. Models show some hints of sleet Friday night along the Red River with a mix possible south of the River into N & NE TX.

Wasn't expecting the severe watch for the metro

I'm a couple hours east of you, but I'm not thrilled with the HRRR/NAM for my prospects. The storms in central TX look to move south of my location robbing energy for storms that develop along the cold front and move southeastward towards me. The storms on the cold front seem to die as they reach my area. We'll see. It is very windy and warm outside, partly sunny.

Yeah was out driving earlier and definitely got "the feel" that something might be brewing but mentally deferred to the SPC

Well, the models pretty much nailed this to a "T" for my location. The heavier convection stayed just to my south, and the storms that fired along the cold front fizzled out pretty quickly. Pretty amazing job on their part.

That storm only took like 20 minutes to go from a blip on the radar and then go severe... talk about explosive development.  The atmosphere is indeed very unstable.

And DFW Airport is in the direct path of this exploding storm. Looks like American is about to get some newly dented planes.

Seems a bit weaker on radar now, but there is a severe-warned storm just to the west on its heels.

The storm near Celina also seems to be developing a hook with what appears to be some rotation on radar.
