With a persistent offshore flow you can sustain temperatures in the 90s even under a deck of high clouds. Triple digit heat does not necessarily require mostly sunny skies. We've had days of 100's with convective debris limiting the sunshine. Just saying, clouds aren't the be all and end all to tampering excessive heat.

Most of the area will see convection by mid-afternoon which will help hold down temps.

I thought we might have touched 80 Saturday but the storm that came through stalled water temps in the mid afternoon. I'm sure we'll see 80 over the next week at some point. Most of the buoys are reading solid 75+ pretty consistent now.

Sacrus, nice stats. I remember the 100's in the July 4th week of 1999. I was 16 years old, recovering from an emergency appendectomy in Taos, New Mexico, when I should have been hiking at the Philmont Scout Ranch. My brother was back home in New Jersey at Allamuchy Scout Reservation. The Weather Channel depicted all of Northern Jersey in white...it was cooler in Taos.

Yeah but that's surface water. A couple days of offshore and it will go back to the upper 60s. It's nice while it lasts though. I was able to see the bottom swimming the whole way out to our swim bouy 100 yards out two weekends ago. Caribbean blue is nice.

Not to stooked on this line incoming. Unless we see some new development it looks like the city misses out
