nesussxwx
If 1"+ from Manhattan to Montauk doesn't count as a widespread 1"+ event then what does? Does every single station across the Tri-state need to reach 1"+? That'd take a miracle. NY metro. It's possible. Is Montauk even NY Metro? I doubt it. Cfa
NY metro. It's possible. Is Montauk even NY Metro? I doubt it. Technically, it's part of Suffolk County. All 3 airports and Central Park That's not a large area. But even still 3/4 isn't bad, and EWR came close.
ag3
All 3 airports and Central Park LGA was over 1" and JFK was just under.

forkyfork
All 3 airports and Central Park this is the criteria i was thinking of. it was an easy accomplishment until summer 2014
NJwx85
I think the criteria has to be only Central Park. All the other reporting stations mentioned are very close to each other distance wise. The NY metro is far more vast than the city and area immediately surrounding it, so if you're going to include multiple sites then you need to include all areas. Cfa
The area you mentioned represents about 1/3 of the metro areawise. True, but it's still an area about as wide as the Florida peninsula, with 10+ million people. 1/3 is pretty significant considering the vastness of the NYC metro. My guess for the next next widespread event is August 16th.

NJwx85
Like the 11/8-11/10 time frame for the next widespread precipitation event. For the record, I would quantify a 1"+ event if at least 4/6 of the following locations record > or = 1" KTTN, KEWR, KSWF, KNYC, KISP, KBDR
