HillsdaleMIWeather
50/30 probs Seems like a good wind watch though 80/50 wind. Might be like 6/12 where a PDS Severe watch gets issued if a Derecho forms.

SchaumburgStormer
Weak broad rotation on a few of those cells. Lets see if it tightens up as these things (hopefully) get rolling
Hoosier
Would've liked to see more recovery here for a better severe threat (at least tornado wise) but we've been getting some peeks of sun and the better airmass is not that far away with a substantial gradient even from here to IKK. So, will be watching things closely in the next hour or two to see if there's more of a rebound than I expect.
andyhb
I'm wondering if all of these cells are elevated. The bases I've seen in pics look rather stable and it's always a question when we're dealing with a warm frontal setup.

Jonbo
Cell between Sterling and Dixon could be the first weak attempt of a tornado/funnel but I think it's going to get caught up merging with the cell behind it before it really gets going.

HillsdaleMIWeather
NWS Chicago thinking tornadoes start dropping further East .MESOSCALE DISCUSSION...638 PM CDTStorms are showing a quick upward progression early this eveningacross northwest/north central Illinois and expect that trend tocontinue. Mode has already appeared supercellular as storms ride asharp wind shift boundary that is becoming the dominant warmfront from near Dixon to the far southwest Chicago metro atpresent. Given the growth of the storms, it is likely they arebecoming rooted lower and a surface-based threat may develop. Inthe next hour, just based on radar trends, one of two of thestorms across Lee and Whiteside Counties may become a moredominant supercell with a tornado threat. Environmentalparameters and the rate they are changing are at the level ofconcern for a significant tornado threat along this corridor ofLee County into northern LaSalle County and southern DeKalbCounty.Given the amount of storms that have already fired, it is possiblemulti-cell clusters may try to develop somewhat quickly. Thatsaid, the tornado threat will remain further east given anincreasing low-level jet...strong helicity...and high dew pointair keeping low-level CAPE present as well as low LCLs.
