Heavy downpour and two rumbles here in SW Suffolk with a bonus rainbow.

One of the few thunderstorms that I have seen with the sun out much of the

time due to the orientation of the storm and sunset getting closer.

Yeah it looks sick now. Even has a towering nimbus with cirrus on top rare around here

Yes, I've only seen this once a few years ago with a storm over Connecticut, but this storm looks much more impressive. I'm trying to get a clean shot of it before it's too late.

This overnight risk won't really show its form until after 03z in my opinion, when the strong northerly gradient behind the front accelerates over Georgian Bay and then Lake Ontario. It may come together rather suddenly over upstate NY and race towards the Hudson valley around 06-09z. Front has passed Timmins ON and winds at Kap are gusting to 45 mph. My prediction is severe storm in NYC region around 10-12z.

Check the forward speed of the developing front:

I don't really see this materializing. Which that wasn't the case. Oh well!

That one was crazy.....if it was dark the lighting show would of been sick.  (In baldwin)

Almost looked like a lenticular?

Whoa, and it's difficult for me to fathom a taller storm, yet the scale goes all the way to 70k.

It's really impressive to see the storm still going well north of Bermuda this morning on the satellite.

Looks like it evolved into a long lived MCS once it got further offshore.

Pretty freaken awesome!!!!

It's pretty rare for a long lived MCS to develop right over our area. Most 12 hr+ systems form over the Midwest

or Great Lakes this far north. That CB to our SE was one of the best that I have ever seen from Long Island.

The NWS actually issued a special offshore marine warning for 50KT winds as it got close to 58 dbz and 43k.

Great shot of the 43K CB on one of the LB Facebook pages. It was a perfect time to have an

unobstructed view from the LB boardwalk.

Wow, looks like a thunderhead you would see out here.
